The original activity we’d booked for Barbados included diving at a shipwreck and snorkeling with turtles, but we were told 2 days before this that it was bagged for some reason. We changed to a snorkeling with turtles + catamaran trip to salvage it, and the trip was really fun. The port setup in Bridgetown, Barbados is weird as hell and confusing, FYI.
Snorkeling with turtles is cool, but I’ll say that this trip was really frustrating.
- People were trying to touch the turtles. Just no.
- People would climb/crawl/scratch over you to get closer to the turtles, regardless of any ideas of etiquette or water safety. I kicked someone who kept grabbing me to try to reposition herself. If you’re about to drown me, I’ll kick you. Drown yourself.
- There were just too many people in the water at once. Instead of 1 big group, there should be 2-3 smaller groups. It was pandemonium.
However, we still had fun, and then the end of the trip was time hanging out on a beach near a super-luxe vacation home from some guy that looked like a mini city. He was away, so we hung out on his beach. Great digs!
The water was a bit chilly but postcard color, and I’d absolutely go back again.
