Today, went out to Salton Sea to look around at an area that was once the holiday-of-choice for movie stars in the 60s but is now an easy postcard for climate change and economic downturn.
You could tell how far the water level has receded, the amount of dead/dried up fish, abandoned/burned down buildings… There was a beautiful sadness and a sad beauty to it.
As for vegan food in the area, your best bet is the taco shop at the ARCO/AM-PM gas station in Salton City. Cheap, filling, and good, but make sure you say “no cheese” at least 3 times, or they won’t pay attention.
