Trift Bridge is the longest pedestrian-only suspension bridge in the Alps. It’s also really cool and scenic.
There’s a cable car option or super long hike to get up and down. We obviously chose the cable car up, and the really mean lady at the ticket booth told us we wouldn’t be able to get from the cable car to the bridge and back to the cable car in time for the last ride down, so we could only buy an ‘up’ ticket and would need to walk down. Sure.
We walked quickly, ran when we heard the ‘warning’ bell for the last car going down, and we rode down. Of course, she insisted that we had to buy another 1-way ticket, costing quite a bit extra, since we hadn’t bought a round-trip ticket. What a scam. We threw the difference of money at her to make up for a round-trip ticket and walked out. No way I was paying 40 for 2 x 1-way tickets, instead of 32 for a round-trip.
However, the hike was awesome, and it’s definitely my favorite memory of Switzerland.
After the hike, we were famished and drove back into Zurich (not super close) for ice cream at Vegelateria and then dinner (schnitzel + tiramisu!!) at Samses. We were stuffed!
Great day and great memories.
