After arriving on the bus from Riga, I had a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend letting me sleep on his couch. However, he informed me that he wouldn’t be able to hang out much, because he had a badminton tournament that weekend. Yes, badminton.
I managed to take the local bus from the bus station in the wrong direction, so that was a fun side trip.
However, Vilnius has a really cool history in its founding by a knight, and I liked the city a lot.
This fort was the start of Vilnius.
I also walked up to a mostly-abandoned prison, where they’re only using a small part of it now.
Vilnius was super cold, and I stopped at nearly every coffee shop I passed, trying to warm up.
The next day, I went to the occupation museum housed in the former KGB torture center/prison.
It was intense, to say the least. Vilnius had a really interesting history, both past and present, and I liked the city a lot. I hope to return when it’s warmer.
