Another place I passed through on this epic road trip was Macedonia. I came in after a full day in Thessaloniki and a night at a cheap hotel, where I had my first shower in 3 days.
I was much more interested in getting to Kosovo than spending time in The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM for short), but I had a fun time with a hitchhiker I picked up. He spoke nothing but Macedonian and just gestured a lot to let me know where to drop him off and where to watch for speed traps.
He rode me with me for maybe 35-40 minutes, and it was quite hilarious.
Macedonia has good roads, I will say that. Smooth sailing for me and the hitchhiker, without lots of potholes.
